Margarethe Kleczar is Vice President Carbon Management & Hydrogen (CM&H) at Wintershall Dea, where she focuses on Project & Capacity Delivery. Since July 2020, she and her team have been developing CO2 storage and low-carbon hydrogen projects, such as the “Greensand” CCS project in Denmark. Generally, her key targets are to deliver CO2 storage capacities in the North Sea and to establish cross-border CCS value chains in Europe. A major role in these efforts will be played also by the projects “Luna” and “NOR-GE”, which will involve shipping CO2 from industrial plants in Germany to storage sites in Norway.
A geologist by training, Margarethe regularly promotes technological diversity at industry events. This can relate, for example, to using CCS and low-carbon hydrogen to mitigate climate change in addition to the green options.
Margarethe has been working for Wintershall Dea since 2015. Before joining the CM&H team, she put her expertise in subsurface and project management to use while overseeing oil and gas projects in Germany. Prior to that, she worked for more than eight years as a geologist and project coordinator for various consultancies in Germany and Namibia, specializing in the field of groundwater and raw materials exploration.
